Bid Specialist Sr. (Multimodal) - Con-way, Inc (Joplin, MO)

Title: Bid Specialist Sr. (Multimodal) Location: United States-Missouri-Joplin Other Locations: Receive and log incoming bid requests from customers and gather necessary information. Facilitate the evaluation of the service requirements, lane appeal, accessorial charges, applicable fuel surcharge and mileage determination. Prepare and send declination letter or process lanes by entering or uploading traffic lanes into the rate proposal system and route to responsible party(s). Continuously monitor the status of all open bids and coordinate the completion of all components, including pricing, capacity requirements, carrier profile, verbiage, etc. Perform pricing functions including answering customer inquiries (internal and external), checking rate inquiries, monitoring rates and lane averages based on internal and external data, and review pricing agreements. Compile the approved bid information in an orderly and professional manner and present to customer via fax, e-mail, regular mail, etc. Maintain weekly bid log with bid status information as well as individual bid files for tracking purposes. Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned. Schedule is Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm Qualifications: Ability to manage multiple projects/assignments simultaneously. Proven skill in oral and written communication, with ability to prepare and deliver concise, understandable reports and presentations. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers, including word processing, database and spreadsheet applications (experience in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred). Must have good organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to quote rates to customers as well as determining pricing levels for bid requests.
